Regional WASH Capacity Builder

Based in any country office of Oxfam GB in Asia.

National Salary Scale in base country

Who are we?

Oxfam GB is a leading aid, development and campaigning charity with a worldwide reputation for excellence and over 60 years of experience. Our purpose is to work with others to overcome suffering and find lasting solutions to poverty. Be part of a dynamic new region – we have recently brought together our South and East Asia regions to form a single new region, Oxfam GB Asia, with its Regional Centre in Bangkok.

The Role:

In this role you will provide technical leadership for capacity building of our WASH teams across the whole Asia region, as well as providing support on WASH programme development. That means working closely with the Regional WASH Coordinator - Asia, in development of the regional WASH capacity plan. Specifically you will be designing and conducting preparedness and emergency capacity gap assessments with relevant staff at regional and country level, affiliates and partners. The aim is to ensure adequate preparedness and response capacity in close coordination with all countries, all members of the regional humanitarian team, and the regional logistic and HR team. Plus ensure that gender, protection and HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed into capacity building activities. We'll expect you to identify potential regional partners and support country programmes in identifying emergency WASH partnership.

The Requirement:

You’ll need to bring extensive experience in designing and leading on capacity building programming at strategic/leadership and operational levels. It is important that you have significant field experience and a solid working knowledge of WASH programmes, some of which will have been gained in emergency response management. Proven relationship management skills, together with gender knowledge and cultural sensitivity, gained from working in the region, are important requirements. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. The region has made a strong commitment to "put women's rights at the heart of all we do", and therefore you will need a strong understanding of gender equality and women's rights, and how these can be integrated into all our work supporting quality programmes and partnerships. Full details can be found on the Oxfam website.
