Through proprietary production processes and extensive in-house R&D, the product area Rock Tools, within SMRT, continually develops new rock drilling tools and cemented carbide grades that improve our customers operations and deliver superior performance at lower cost. We are now looking for a systematic and development-oriented Materials Engineer to join our team in Sandviken.
Job Summary
As a Materials Engineer you handle all materials-related issues within our development projects and our manufacturing, in parallel with executing material tests and failure analysis. You lead and participate in various types of development initiatives that cover the scope of product, process and technology. Technical collaboration initiatives with external partners also lie within your area of responsibility, as does developing our knowledge base in relevant key competence areas and to evolve the processes connected to our products by actively following the global trends and developments within these areas.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master of Science degree or who has a PhD in Technology, with solid knowledge of materials technology. You have experience from development initiatives covering product, process and technology, as well as competencies within steel, tribology, heat treatment, machining and welding. As we operate in a global setting, you need to be strong in both Swedish and English, verbally and in writing.

With a service-oriented perspective and as a true team player, you easily interact with others, but can also operate independently with good results. Research, analyzing facts and careful documentation of your conclusions are other skills that you possess and, as a strong communicator, you share knowledge and information within the organization in a pedagogical way.
