Salary: £18,800-£20,600 per annum plus £3,300 per annum London Market Allowance

The British Council Collection, designated a ‘national collection’ under the National Heritage Act (1982), is one of the UK’s outstanding public collections of modern and contemporary British art. Our collection comprises approximately 8,500 items, of which 2,500 are ‘unique works’. All artworks are available for international touring in support of the British Council’s commitment to offer worldwide access to original works of art.

We are looking for a workshop technician to support our visual arts exhibition team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all handling, casing and packing of visual arts materials and museum objects is undertaken to the highest international museum standards.

The ideal candidate will have significant practical experience working in a technical role within a museum or gallery environment. Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of international museum standards for mounting, framing and handling of artwork and a professional knowledge of the science and technology of fine art handling. You are required to courier and install works of art internationally, so some unsociable hours are expected.
