The Vanuatu Humanitarian Team (VHT) is a collaborative project set up by a range of humanitarian actors (UN Agencies, INGO’s, NGO’s and The Red Cross) and working closely with the NDMO and other key government agencies. It has been developed is a result of real time learning from the response to two recent tropical cyclones.

This position will be accountable for the strategic leadership of the VHT, developing VHT plan, ensuring protocols in place, recruiting and mentoring the national VHT coordinator, leading the design and implementation of key projects and building good working relationships with NDMO, VHT members, donors and other stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • In depth knowledge of disaster management and the proven ability to provide high level advice
  • Significant experience working in a coordination role including coordinating a wide range of external stakeholders
  • Significant experience of working in a range of humanitarian context’s. Experience in the Pacific region is preferable
  • Experience in program management including design, evaluation and policy development as well as financial management
