Trusts and Foundations Manager

The British Council, one of the largest charities in the UK and an internationally respected cultural relations institution, is seeking to recruit an experienced Trust and Foundations Manager.

We work with partner organisations all over the world including governments, corporations and third sector institutions to deliver cultural relations work with maximum impact. We seek to be more effective in our partnership work in the coming years. A key role in the Partnerships Team has been created based on the recognition of significant opportunities for the British Council to work more closely with trusts and foundations.

We work at arm’s length from government and through our sponsoring agency, the Foreign Office, received a grant of £190m in 2010-2011. The programmes we use to do this are wide-ranging and cover the Arts, Education and Society, and English language and Exams. Position

The British Council is looking for an experienced Fundraiser, with specialist knowledge of UK-based and international trusts and foundations, to develop and implement an plan to generate maximum income opportunities to support our partnership income and impact goals.

You will have: a proven track record of securing funds from trusts and foundations; experience of researching and identifying funding opportunities and shaping solutions which deliver results; excellent communication skills with an ability to present credibly (both in writing and orally) to internal and external stakeholders. It is also desirable that you have a track record of working with HNWIs.
