The Organization

Now entering its second decade, Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP)’s global activities are developed and managed in the headquarters in Brussels. NP has a fundraising office in Minneapolis, USA, programmes in Sri Lanka, South Sudan, and the Philippines, and is now starting a programme in the South Caucasus region.

The Project Nonviolent Peaceforce Philippines (NPP) launched a civilian protection programme in the conflict affected Mindanao region of the Philippines in May 2007, aimed at enhancing human security, through working on protection and human rights issues by proactive non-violent ways and means. In 2009 NPP became an official part of the peace process structures when it was invited by the Government and rebel Peace Panels to be the only international NGO to join the Civilian Protection Component of the International Monitoring Team, mandated to ensure the safety and security of communities, including all non-combatants. In August 2011, NPP became an implementing partner of the United Nations in monitoring, reporting, verifying and facilitating a response to the six grave child rights violations. NPP works in Central and Western Mindanao with its main office located in Cotabato City, a strategic liaison office in Manila and field offices located in Maguindanao, Lanao Del Sur, Lanao Del Norte, North Cotabato, General Santos City and the conflict-affected islands of Sulu and Basilan.
