The appointee will have overall management of one of the two major sections in the Library: Customer Services and Technical Services. She/he will lead, plan, coordinate, manage and review all aspects of the section, including the delivery of quality service and management of a team of staff in consultation with the Librarian-in-charge of departments within the section. She/he will also have specific responsibility for a key department within Customer or Technical Services

Applicants must have a Masters degree or higher in Library Information Science recognized by an accrediting body such as the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and significant years of proven management experience in an academic library, coordinating and motivating a team and identifying targets, applying performance management and quality assurance techniques.

Preference will be given to applicants with ability and desire to think beyond traditional library services, has knowledge of RDA, experience in dealing with library users in a multicultural environment, have work experience or understanding of life in a developing country, and awareness of current regional and national priorities.

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed subject to demonstrated excellent performance.

Salary Range: Band 4 F$81,145 to F$93,629 per annum
(Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)


In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate.
