We invite applications for this interesting and challenging opportunity to contribute to the publication of systematic reviews in the field of heart diseases. The Cochrane Heart Group is part of The Cochrane Collaboration, an international network of individuals and organisations committed to preparing, maintaining, updating and disseminating systematic reviews of health care interventions to help people make well-informed decisions about health care (see www.cochrane.org). You will be a key part of a small team, responsible for assisting review authors through the process of preparing and updating reviews for publication in The Cochrane Library.

The role requires excellent organisational and administrative skills, the ability to work accurately, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to specialised software packages. The main tasks include reading protocols and reviews and checking their methodological rigour in accordance to Cochrane Collaboration guidance. Audit submitted systematic reviews to ensure consistency of reporting and quality control. Undertake and update Cochrane Heart reviews and to promote the profile of the Cochrane Heart Group.

The successful candidate will be educated to post graduate degree level (or equivalent) and have an understanding of systematic reviews or evidence-based research methods. Confidence in using new computer software packages would be an advantage.

The post-holder will be required to work part-time (17.5 hours per week). The starting salary will be on the Academic Pathway Scale Grade 6 in the range of £35,511 to £40,349 per annum, inclusive (pro rata) according to qualifications and experience. The appointment is to start as soon as possible and is funded by NIHR until 30th November 2013.
