Research and Evaluation Advisor - Urban

The International Programming Group plays a key role across the World Vision Partnership in supporting the fight against poverty. Recognising urban poverty as a defining global challenge of the 21st Century, World Vision has established a Centre of Expertise (CoE) for Urban Programming to explore and promote promising urban development practices, informed by local knowledge and field experiences.

This position will sit in the Urban Centre of Expertise Team, and will see you working closely with field practitioners, industry leaders and subject matter experts to explore action-models that respond to the unique challenges of urban poverty. Key responsibilities will include;

• Contribute to the development of innovative urban programming approaches and models • Contribute to the urban research agenda and influence policy • Develop cross sectoral partnerships and provide support for grant acquisition for urban initiatives • Support the global urban learning network and facilitate World Vision Australia's learning on urban • Advance humanitarian and development thinking on urban programming through field capacity building initiatives

In addition you will possess:

• An in-depth understanding of urban poverty • Extensive experience working in urban contexts and/or addressing urban issues • Demonstrated knowledge of evaluation and development theories • Demonstrated senior experience in strategic thinking, stakeholder management and verbal and written communication skills • A Postgraduate degree with an urban issue focus, in international development, or other relevant discipline would be advantageous
