Regional Security Officer International Civilian Office

Job Details:

  • Provide personal security advice and support to Regional based members of the ICO office in Mitrovica;
  • Assists in identifying staff training needs in security related areas;
  • Assist in the development of regional policies and procedures ensuring they are followed and updated or amended when necessary;
  • Process threat assessments and ensure appropriate security measures are put in place, in a timely and effective manner;
  • Maintain a high operational effectiveness and equipment husbandry of all associated equipment under their control;
  • Assist in coordination of VIP visits with all relevant security agencies;
  • Develop professional contacts with the local police, military and security managers of other international organizations at a local regional level;
  • Liaise with civilian and military organisations for an assessment of current and possible future threats;
  • Prepare and distribute daily and weekly working papers, reports and analysis;
  • Ensure a timely and affective passage of information to the Head of Mitrovica Office and the Head of Security/OIC;
  • Maintain a fire evacuation plan and conduct fire drills and training as necessary;
  • Provide advice and training to staff and dependants on residential security measures;
  • Conduct security training for regional based staff in such subjects as the security provided management system, responsibilities of wardens and personal security awareness;
  • Maintain an ongoing evaluation of evacuation routes and resources for use in emergencies, ensuring there availability;
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the HOS.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate of a police or military academy or a recognised civilian security institute;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, including 2 in security-related matters;
  • Prior civilian mission experience with an international organisation and knowledge about Kosovo in particular are desirable;
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute creatively to the development of security strategies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of the Balkans region and potential security threats (desirable);
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English;
  • Having or being in the position to obtain a national security clearance, equivalent to EU SECRET one.
