Regional Platform Representative, South Africa

Experienced and dynamic leader sought for the Regional Platform Representative (RPR) of a new regional platform office, which is under design and depends entirely on donor funding. The regional office will take a successful condom social marketing and capacity building project into its next phase, which will build upon lessons learned and maintain a vision towards long range financial sustainability.

The condom social marketing component will consist of the sales, supply chain and marketing strategies for regional condom brands across four countries: South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana. All activities will be based upon robust, but user-friendly, evidence-based marketing plans developed in collaboration with PSI country platforms in the above mentioned countries.

The capacity building component of this regional platform will be responsible for continuing and improving upon existing methodologies and tools and for expanding the project scope externally such that materials and opportunities are readily accessible to partners in the region in a manner that is long-term and sustainable.

In addition to managing these different project components and related executive staff, the RPR will be responsible for external donor relations including fundraising. The successful candidate will be a proven leader and diplomat who is able to coordinate effectively with multiple actors to ensure targets are met or exceeded as efficiently as possible. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Regional Platform Representative will be responsible for the overall development, management (financial, administrative, and programmatic), and representation of PSI’s activities on this project and future regional projects. This includes, but is not limited to:
•Development and implementation of marketing and communication campaigns and other social marketing activities;

•Developing sales targets, ensuring they remain ambitious and are regularly surpassed; •Transitioning from a subsidized to cost recoverable project in four years;

•Strategic planning – including the implementation and review of existing strategic plan;

•External relations with donor, government, NGO, and commercial entities;

•In-country personnel recruitment, training, and supervision;

•Tracking and maintaining distribution systems and sales figures;

•Creation and monitoring of marketing and annual work plans;

•Supervision of capacity-building activities;

•Management of and responsibility for program budget;

•Financial and other reporting as required by donors, government and PSI HQ; and

•Development and enforcement of field office administrative policies.

QUALIFICATIONS: •Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience;

•Minimum of 10 years of personnel and financial management experience, preferably in commercial marketing or sales;

•At least five years work experience in a developing country;

•Knowledge of international development and health issues – particularly HIV/AIDS;

•Familiarity and experience in dealing with the international donor community; and

•Fluency in spoken and written English.
