Projects Coordinator in Haiti

Role and Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the implementation and development of the Medair Haiti programme in Jacmel and surrounding areas.

Project Overview
Medair responded to the earthquake in Haiti and is implementing a shelter programme in Jacmel and surrounding urban and rural areas in the South East district of Haiti. The programme integrates a CFW (Cash For Work) component into the provision of different types of shelter and repair of existing, damaged houses for 3149 households. The first phase was geared towards providing basic safe shelter for people before the onset of the hurricane season, while the second phase focuses on up-grading the shelters. Follow up shelter projects or interventions in other sectors will be taken based on future assessments and needs.

Key activity areas

Programme Management
• Oversee programme implementation in all sites in Jacmel is according to project proposals, taking preventative and corrective action where necessary.
• Coordinate and give input for monthly, quarterly and final reports for all Jacmel projects.
• Brief and manage in/external evaluators.
• Ensure high quality of Medair visibility through reporting, website contributions and other media.
• Ensure efficient delivery of programme targets through liaison with Support Managers and Logistics staff, mainly in the Jacmel base.
• Ensure visibility of programmes and high quality reporting through liaison with the Field Communication Officer.
• Promote and use the Medair Quality System, ensuring that all standardised formats are used and guidelines followed.

Programme Coordination
• Develop and maintain relationships with authorities, civil society, churches, local partner NGO, INGOs, UN agencies and Donors with the objective of coordinating programme implementation.
• Represent Medair’s values and vision on all occasions.

Programme Development
• Lead the preparation of donor proposals for all projects in Jacmel, including logframes and budgets, with significant input from Project Managers and Advisors. Proposals may not be released without the appropriate Sector Policy Advisor’s and the Country Director’s approval.
• Develop country strategy in liaison with Country Director and HQ Desk Officer.

Qualifications
• University degree and or relevant professional experience
• International driving licence

Experience / Competencies
• Two years’ experience in a management position
• Experience of planning and implementing projects in developing countries
• Experience in writing reports and guideline documents
• Construction or WASH background desirable
• Experience in Haiti desirable

• Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit

Working Conditions
• The PC will mainly spend his time at the office, in Jacmel, with regular trips to the field and from time to time, Port Au Prince.
• Jacmel is a relatively stable and safe city in the South East district of Haiti.
• Living conditions are good, with the team split between 2 concrete houses.
• Jacmel often experiences Hurricane seasons and precautions will need to be taken.
