Policy Advisor In Trade and Market Related Issues COCERAL

Overview

COCERAL, the European association representing the cereals, rice, feedstuffs, oilseeds, olive oil, oils and fats and agrosupply trade, is offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated Policy advisor in Trade and Market related issues

Areas of expertise within which a clear understanding is required:

  • Agricultural market/policy instruments: import duties, TRQs, Abatimento, quotas; customs code;
  • Common Agricultural Policy (CAP);
  • Supply and Demand (S&D) for raw materials;
  • statistical analysis of trade flows;
  • European and International negotiations: Doha Round and WTO issues;
  • Bilateral and Multilateral agreements; Preferential rules of origin.


Main responsibilities in respect to the areas identified above:

  • Monitoring of regulatory and policy developments at EU level as well as in international organisations and institutions;
  • Interpretation of current regulations concerning agricultural commodities and briefing COCERAL members on the impact of new legislation;
  • Liaising with members, preparing and managing working parties and committees, developing position papers;
  • Representing the interests of COCERAL towards the EU institutions.

We are looking for a team player colleague having

  • Thorough knowledge of the EU decision-making process, especially comitology;
  • 3 to 5 years work experience in an association or government relations is essential;
  • Capability to summarize regulatory measures and documents for members;
  • Excellent communication, drafting and presentation skills;
  • Computer skills, knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel;
  • Understanding of the financial market of commodities will be considered as an asset;
  • Perfect command of English, good knowledge of either German or French; knowledge of additional European languages is an asset;
  • Previous experience in agribusiness related issues and/or masters in agricultural economics favourable.
