Legal adviser – Data Protection ECHA - European Chemicals Agency

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is organising the current call for expressions of interest, to constitute a reserve list for the post of Legal Advisor in the Executive Office.

The Legal Advisor will work mainly in the Executive Office of the European Chemical Agency.

The Legal Advisor will work on Data Protection matters in the Agency, first as an assistant to the Data Protection officer, and after a relevant period as a Data Protection Officer. In addition, s/he will be in charge of the confirmatory requests for Access to Information and of specific corporate activities.

The main tasks include the following:
In the field of Data Protection

• Internal advice and answers to queries from third parties regarding the protection of personal data
• Drafting, reporting and follow-up of the annual data protection work plan
• Maintaining the registry of notifications of processes containing personal data
• Assisting on prior checking cases to be notified to the European Data Protection

Supervisor

• Training of staff on the protection of personal data
• Follow-up on new policies issued by the European Data Protection Supervisor and case law related to the protection of personal data

In the field of Access to Documents

• Support the Executive Director in the handling of confirmatory applications concerning public access to documents held by the Agency.

In the field of corporate management

• Prepare relevant internal Management policies, draft the relevant instructions and followup on their implementation
• Review before signature decisions to be taken by the Executive Director, in order to check the compliance with internal policies and other ED decisions
