INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES VOLUNTEER - AFRICA

Salary: All reasonable expenses
Based in Central London

Y Care International is looking for an International Programmes Volunteer to provide support to the Africa desk in delivering Y Care International's assistance to YMCAs. The successful applicant must be educated to degree level; have excellent writing and research skills; be fluent in English with the ability to work in French; and have knowledge and interest in international development issues in relation to young people. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills that will help him/her to develop a career in the international development sector.

The role is based in our London office and is available for a minimum of two days a week for at least 3 months, starting in September 2011. Please note that we are not able to offer a salary for this position. However, Greater London travel (up to zone 6) and lunch expenses will be provided.

YCI is the international relief and development agency of the YMCA in the UK and Ireland. We work in partnership with YMCAs in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East to empower young people and their communities to find alternatives to a future of poverty and disadvantage, and to build lives and communities marked by hope and positive change.

The successful applicant will receive a copy of YCI’s Working with Children and Young People policy and will be asked to sign a Statement of Commitment to it.
