The Brooke is the UK’s leading overseas working equine welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of horses, donkeys and mules working in some of the poorest communities in the world. On average five or more people depend on the income generated through the work of each animal and so by improving animal welfare, the lives of poor people in the developing world are improved.
Our goal is to increase the number of working animals we reach from more than 900,000 in 2010/11 to helping two million suffering horses, donkeys and mules in the developing world by 2016.
The Role
The Head of Region will be responsible for managing the Brooke’s overseas programmes in Asia and Latin America. We are looking for a skilled professional to provide overall management and strategic direction to our directly managed programmes and oversee our partners working within the region. You will be part of the International Department’s Senior Management Team directly managing a small team of Programme Advisers and working closely with colleagues in the UK and overseas to help achieve our organisational strategy.
Criteria
You will have a proven track record of successful international management with demonstrable experience in managing change processes and implementing security strategies. The ability to inspire and motivate a diverse range of individuals and groups across cultures and a willingness to travel overseas for several weeks at a time for a total of up to 4 months each year are also essential requirements of the role.
