DESCRIPTION Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, a southeastern, regional, not-for-profit, environmental advocacy organization, is seeking a highly motivated, organized and creative individual to serve as a full-time Development Assistant.

The Development Assistant will primarily be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the organization's database through data entry and pulling of reports
  • Managing organizational tracking documents to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Conducting research on potential sources of new funding
  • Coordinating and managing logistics for fundraising appeals
  • Sending timely acknowledgement letters to donors and members; working collaboratively to manage effective correspondence to major donors
  • Creating engaging content for various social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Assisting in managing website content
  • Assisting with other fundraising/administrative projects as requested

In addition, the Development Assistant will work with the Senior Director of Development & Operations on other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate must be committed to the mission of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy; have 1 or more years of professional or non-profit experience; have excellent research, planning and organizational skills as well as written and verbal communication skills; be a team player; possess good decision-making, problem-solving and interpersonal skills; be proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, and donor databases (eTapestry a plus); be able to work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, and take initiative. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of climate and energy issues.
