FUNCTIONS

As an international transaction lawyer in the Office of the General Counsel, the incumbent will work and provide legal advice on a wide range of activities in the following areas:

  • The Bank’s treasury activity (relative to the capital markets and derivatives)
  • The Bank’s loans/projects activity.

Within this context, he/she may be asked to:

  • Work in the field of capital market transactions (MTN and ECP programmes and issues, derivatives, repos and other framework agreements);
  • Assist the operational staff in structuring financings and guarantees (loans activity) and in carrying out legal monitoring;
  • Draft legal documents, opinions and reports;
  • Conduct research and preparing studies/analyses;
  • Conduct legal negotiations;
  • Ensure the liaison between the Bank and its external legal advisers and supervising their work.

In carrying out his/her functions, the incumbent will have to demonstrate a good capacity for autonomously managing the complex legal files entrusted to him/her by a Senior Counsel or by the General Counsel.

PROFILE

  • Studies: University degree in law allowing access to the profession of lawyer or judge, backed up by further studies (e.g., LL.M), preferably carried out in a country other than the one in which his/her main studies were done.
  • Professional skills: Over 5 years’ experience in the legal department of an international financial institution, international bank or specialised legal firm;
  • Personal skills: Ability to draft clearly and concisely and to work in a multicultural environment, good relational skills, a sense of service and teamwork skills;
  • Language skills: Excellent working knowledge of English and French; knowledge of other European languages would be an asset;
  • Nationality: Citizen of one of the Bank’s member states.
