CHIEF OF PARTY - AFRICAN COCOA INITIATIVE

WCF seeks qualified candidates for the position of Chief of Party on a 5-year West Africa Cocoa Development program to be posted in Accra, Ghana. The program is a jointly funded collaboration between WCF’s industry members and USAID, funded equally by each party, with a similar match from the Dutch Government. It will focus on cocoa value chain development, farm finance, farmer training, applied farm research, and government economic policy re cocoa and agriculture. It will cover the four countries of Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire. The initiative incorporates host government institutions, civil society organizations and cocoa industry actors at multiple levels. Grant-making to local organizations as implementing partners will be a key mechanism for program delivery as will be the establishment of multi-stakeholder public/private platforms to consider priority investments in each country. This is a senior level position with a start date to be mutually determined. Salary and benefit package is competitive.


Qualifications


Mandatory qualifications include at least 15 years experience in agriculture development, with at least 10 of those in West Africa, previous management of large international development program(s), a strong background in agriculture and/or economic policy development, as well as a record of representation and negotiation at senior levels of host governments. Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated fluency in French, knowledge of grant management programs, and previous experience in the private sector
