BUSINESS OPERATIONS HEAD

CARE is seeking a seasoned Business Operations Head. This individual will be responsible for providing optimal support services to achieve CARE’s external relations priorities in individual and institutional fundraising, constituency building and advocacy, and brand and marketing. S/he will be responsible for leading a number of key functions in a new shared support environment. Reporting to the Head of Individual Fundraising and Marketing (IFM), the Business Operations Head will be an integral member of the IFM Senior Management Team (SMT). Serving on the IFM SMT, s/he participates in the development of divisional strategies and annual operating plans. In addition, the position is responsible for setting direction and ensuring the development and execution of annual operating plans for the Business Operations department in collaboration with the various unit teams under her/his supervision, including: Operations, Information/Knowledge Management, Prospect Management and Research, Planning and Analysis, and National Events and Support. S/he will ensure that the Business Operations team is the primary source, disseminator, and manager of information on these functional areas.

The position will require a candidate with collaborative and effective leadership qualities, a commitment to gender equity and diversity, and a demonstrated ability to contribute towards overall organizational interests. She/he must have the ability to inspire and motivate cohesive teams in order to collectively achieve higher level results.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Staff Management; • Strategy Development and Implementation; • Testing and process improvement of support services; • Creation and implementation of shared-service environment; • Target setting and analysis.

Required Skills:

• 8+ years experience in management oversight - proven ability to lead and develop team members, and focus on improving quality and consistency of business processes; • 3+ years experience managing shared-service function or team; • Proven ability to communicate skillfully and persuasively, both orally and in written form; • Proven ability to build partnerships across teams and divisions; • Demonstrated experience in financial and data analysis to inform organizational decision-making; • Experience leading others to new levels of effectiveness and impact; • Experience leading projects; • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; • Strong relationship development skills; • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills; • Complex budget management; • Proven ability to select and direct the use of fundraising information management technology; • Proficient in project management, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; • Customer/donor relationship management; • Strategic and tactical planning; • Team-building and leadership development skills.

Desired Skills:

• 5+ years working with large and complex non-profits; • Knowledge of CARE systems and processes; • Demonstrated experience in strategy development and execution.
