Assistant Treasurer

ROLE PURPOSE:

To support the Treasurer in providing a first class treasury service to the organisation, which includes but is not limited to: • total cash flow management including forecasting • effective and efficient management of funds flow across geographies • management of banking arrangements • ensuring adherence to agreed treasury policies.

Cash flow management:

• working closely with the Treasurer and the Cash and Banking Accountant to ensure that Save the Children International is: ­ obtaining the best rates possible for currency transactions ­ minimising bank charges ­ opening and maintaining overseas bank accounts efficiently and effectively ­ implementing approved cash and currency management controls and policies • assisting the Treasurer with: ­ preparation of (long term and other) cash flow forecasts for Save the Children International, including development of a template for country and field office use ­ analysis of the cash flow forecast, - and from this identifying and managing liquidity and currency risks and providing an early warning system for senior management ­ effective management of working capital.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • numerically literate, adept at working with, manipulating and drawing conclusions from high volumes of data • advanced Excel and IT skills • accountancy qualification (complete or in progress) desirable but not essential • experience of working in a multi-currency environment is desirable but not essential • excellent communication and interpersonal skills • ability to operate within a fast changing environment: adaptable, flexible and supportive approach • commitment to Save the Children values
