Conduct experiments to evaluate breeding lines for blast and bacterial blight resistance for hybrid rice production
Major accountabilities / Responsibilities
• Designs and conducts experiments for the Green Super Rice (GSR) Project, including screening of inbred and hybrid lines for resistance to blast, bacterial blight, bacterial leaf streak, sheath blight and brown spot
• Phenotyping and genotyping of selected breeding lines and rice pathogens, and analyzes phenotype and molecular data
• Maintains the database of GSR materials screened for the different rice diseases and maintains the seeds of selected breeding lines
• Prepares slide presentations, semi-annual and annual reports as required by the project
• Performs other work as may be assigned by the IRS
Qualification requirements
• MS Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding, Genetics
• Minimum of 2 years experience in handling field experiments, working knowledge on molecular techniques, familiarity with Microsoft Office and data analysis
• Ability to work in a team, hardworking, can work independently, good communication skills
