The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies (IFRC) is a global
humanitarian and volunteer based organization. The IFRC
works with Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies in 186 countries in
responding to disasters and crises. Its relief operations are combined with
development work focused on enabling healthy and safe living and promoting
social inclusion and a culture of non violence and peace.



The Pacific regional office of the IFRC invites applications for the
position of:

*Advocacy /Humanitarian Diplomacy Manager*

* *

*Purpose of position: *The position aims to develop the IFRC’s capacity in
the Pacific to persuade decision makers and opinion leaders to act, at all
times, in the interest of vulnerable people, and with respect for the
Fundamental
Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.



This position will require the successful candidate to develop strong
relationships with Pacific Red Cross national societies and international,
regional and national level organisations engaged in humanitarian and
development work. The Manager will work with Pacific Red Cross national
societies to develop their voice and to support the needs and aspirations of
vulnerable people through confidential diplomacy, environment building,
public influence, legislative advocacy and public advocacy campaigns.



We are seeking an individual who will act in line with the values that the
IFRC Regional Office strives to apply, namely, openness, integrity,
leadership, teamwork, adaptability, innovation and making a difference in
people’s lives.



*Qualifications, skills, experience *

* *

· University degree in law is preferred, but candidates with a degree in
communications, advocacy, community development or other related field will
also be considered

· At least 10 years of professional experience in advocacy

· Experience in legislative advocacy an advantage

· Supporting capacity building in advocacy in local civil society
organizations

· Strong interpersonal and networking skills

· Ability to build rapport and articulate messages clearly and concisely
to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds

· Must be comfortable engaging with high level stakeholders

· Strong verbal communication and writing skills

· Experience facilitating and support networks of practitioners

· Experience within Pacific region or other small island context

· Experience in programme planning and managing budgets

· Good command of computer skills**
