The Role

The fundamental purpose of the job is to ensure that the University’s collaborative provision is managed in keeping with relevant internal and external quality assurance frameworks and sector-wide good practice, and to see that the University performs well in all types of external collaborative review. The post-holder acts as a focal point for all enquiries relating to collaborative provision and provides expert advice and guidance to University staff at all levels and to partners on matters relating to the approval and ongoing quality management of new partners and their programmes. Additionally, the post-holder also provides day-to-day administrative support and academic-related guidance to the staff and students in the validated institutions and to the liaising departments within the University. The post-holder plays a crucial role in developing the understanding of partners with regard to the requirements of Kent’s policies and procedures and their implementation of these, and will visit partners regularly for this purpose. Accordingly, the post requires a good deal of travel within the UK, Europe and overseas.
The Person

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience, have recent experience of working in Higher Education administration in the area of collaborative provision and have expert knowledge and understanding of University policies, codes, procedures and conventions related to quality assurance .
The successful candidate should have expert knowledge and understanding of QAA Academic Infrastructure (particularly QAA Code of Practice, Section 2) and have high level ICT (including use of Word and Email) and numeracy skills and exceptional written and oral communication skills.

The Department

The Office for Quality Assurance and Validation is responsible for maintaining the regulatory and procedural framework through which the standards of the University’s awards are assured and the quality of its programmes is enhanced.

The Office provides secretarial support and guidance to several key University committees, including the Learning and Teaching Board and the Programme Approval Sub-Committee, on matters relating to the internal and external frameworks for quality assurance, with particular regard to the various elements of the QAA’s Academic Infrastructure.
The Office provides support and guidance in preparing for external quality reviews, such as Institutional Audit, Collaborative Provision Audit and Integrated Quality Enhancement Review.
The Office provides advice and guidance on matters relating to collaborative provision and, in particular, takes a lead in managing liaison with the University’s validated partner institutions.
The Office is part of the Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching.
